Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea) -observed regularly in Upper Vistula Valley, but in fact it is quite rare heron in here, recorded mostly in late summer and autumn. During our studies on Goczałkowicki Reservoir 2 breeding records were documented. In 1994 was found nest with 8 eggs. Those were probably clutches from two females, unfortunately the breed was unsuccessful. In 1996 again on the same reservoir another breeding facts were discovered. Amazingly that time we found 3 nests located within small colony (all close to each other). In total 11 chicks have grown up, we had managed to ring 8 of them. We wait for the next breeds those rare herons.
