Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea) observed regularly in Upper Vistula Valley, but in fact it is quite rare heron in here, recorded mostly in late summer and autumn. During our studies on Goczałkowicki Reservoir 2 breeding records were documented. In 1994 was found nest with 8 eggs. Those were probably clutches from two females, unfortunately the breed was unsuccessful. In 1996 again on the same reservoir another breeding facts were discovered. Amazingly that time we found 3 nests located within small colony (all close to each other). In total 11 chicks have grown up, we had managed to ring 8 of them. We wait for the next breeds those rare herons.
